Greens Are Good For You

Greens Are Good For You takes its title from the familiar phrase, playfully reimagined through Álvaro's lifelong relationship with nature. It is an invitation to consider how creativity and the natural world can enrich our daily lives.

Falmouth-based environmental artist and educator Álvaro Tamarit studied Fine Arts in Valencia, Spain. A lifelong learner, his practice is shaped by a deep connection to the natural world and by artists such as Alfred Wallis, whose intuitive approach to landscape, use of everyday materials and direct visual language continue to inform his way of making.

Bringing together objects, furniture, collage and paintings, the exhibition offers an immersive insight into Álvaro's imaginative world, where found materials, playful forms and observations of place come together in conversation with nature.

Books and trees are recurring motifs throughout the exhibition, reflecting Álvaro's fascination with the ways nature, knowledge and culture are passed between generations. Books appear collaged into houses and reimagined as sculptural bookends, while trees emerge as symbols of growth, connection and the importance of the natural world.

In Cultural Refuges, Álvaro presents books as vessels of shared knowledge and cultural memory. These small house-like forms become shelters for culture, holding and protecting the books they support.

His mission is simple: to introduce art into the everyday.
